me: (crying)this conversation truly made my day. why? ‘cause my dad’s strict and ever since my childhood, he has always been the type to say “what are you crying for?” when I’m sad, and “you don’t do well in your studies because you’re always on the computer, chatting & wasting your time on things etc.” when I don’t do well in my studies, regardless my efforts and even when I don’t go online for many days.
daddy: eh? what’s wrong?
me: (still crying)
daddy: (comes nearer) what’s wrong?
me: (still crying & looks down)
daddy: (touches my shoulder & looks into my eyes) what’s wrong?
me: (trying to talk through my tears) …I don’t think I can pass my malay-
daddy: it’s okay! (touches my cheek) if fail, fail loh. it’s okay. just try your best okay? don’t pressure yourself. okay?
me: (sniffs) okay.
daddy: papa won’t get mad at you. just try your best… you could’ve just told me in the 1st place. why keep it to yourself?
me: (smiles)
daddy: (pats my head)
