Over 44 billion paper cups are used each year for hot drinks. And those things don't leave the barista's hand naked; they need that all-important cardboard sleeve to protect your hand (e.g. Starbucks). The next time you finish a cup of your favorite coffee, ask your local establishment if they can reuse your sleeve (if you haven't picked it apart while conversing about the meaning of life with your buddy). If they don't (for sanitation reasons), keep it handy for your next trip out for java. Or, make a statement by going all the way and purchasing your own permanent sleeve.
